Jonathan R. Lavy, CFA, Director of Investments, joined the American Red Cross in 2014. He is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, recommending and monitoring public market investments (primarily hedge funds, distressed debt, and concentrated equity) for the endowment and DB plan. He was previously a Portfolio Manager at General Motors Asset Management where he was a member of both the Absolute Return Strategies and Investment Strategy and Asset Allocations groups, He covered primarily systematic and relative value managers and was also responsible for overseeing all of the organization’s large external multi-asset portfolios. Prior to starting at GM in 2003, he was an Investment Banking Analyst at JPMorgan Chase where he underwrote and syndicated leveraged loans. He has a B.A. in Economics and a Certificate in Latin American Studies from Harvard College and is a CFA charterholder.
